The most common consumer grade video tape formats we deal with are VHS, Beta, U-matic as well as camcorder tapes such as 8mm tapes (consisting of Video8, Hi8 and Digital8), MiniDV, HDV, VHS-c (compact) and MicroMV. Most tapes will have a label or logo stating the brand and tape format. Take a look at the

Videotapes range in lengths, starting from 15 minutes in length, up to 8 hours in length. Almost all videotape will have the recording lengths written directly on the tape itself, or on the case/cover it came with.
*Note* Some tapes are measured in hours some tapes are measured in hours (2, 4, 6, 8) and some tapes are measured in minutes (15, 30, 60, 90, 120, 180). If the length is not visible at all, contact us at 416-479-0537.

Are my videotapes too old?
It's unlikely that your videocassettes are too old, but the conditions they were stored in can severely damage them. Usually they will begin to give off a strong scent or become moldy if they are at the stage of being
“too old”. Also, the more they are played, the more the tape becomes stretched and affects the picture quality. Get them transferred before it is too late. If you are skeptical about the condition of your tapes, call us – 416-479-0537.
What if I have a broken cassette?
Bring us your broken tapes! We love putting a smile on your face once you see that it has been fixed and transferred onto DVD. We have mastered fixing damaged enclosures and ripped/creased tape.
Can you transfer videotapes from other parts of the world?
We can digitize tapes from all over the world. PAL and SECAM tapes can be transferred into the North American (NTSC) video format to be viewed in Canada and the USA.
How large are video files?
Video files can get large in size. Standard AVI and MOV files (editable files) can be as large as 13GB per hour of footage. A DVD holds 4.5GB of data. Usually an
external hard drive is needed to store the files.
Can I extract video from a DVD or Blu-ray to my computer?
It is possible, but not suggested. If a DVD is the only version of the video that you have, then it is necessary. If you have video tapes and want them on your computer, it is best to have us digitize your tapes into high quality AVI or MOV files and load them onto an external hard drive.
